Strange problem with Commodo Firewall
i am facing a strange problem with my new firewall. I recently installed my new commodo firewall and started facing problems with it. As i successfully completed with the installation, i am now unable to use internet. It prompts me that contact to your local server. the next day when i tried, it says an invalid ip address. I am not getting the actual problem with this firewall
Re: Strange problem with Commodo Firewall
1. Create a rule allowing all ports to and from the 153.2.x.x network.
That should get you connected. It's not as secure, but should work.
2. Call the UPS help desk. Ask SPECIFICALLY what ports and protocols are used by the following apps: gethostip.exe, shipups.exe, upslnkmg.exe
Re: Strange problem with Commodo Firewall
Please rerun the CEICW wizard. After the replacement of the
firewall, the network configuration was also changed. If your firewall is
UPnP-compatible, the CEICW wizard will configure the device automatically.
There are many different hardware routing solutions that also provide firewall functionality. There are also varying degrees of firewall protection with these devices. Make sure that you choose a device that meets your security requirements. Many of these devices support UPnP architecture. UPnP-certified routers are supported by Windows Small Business Server 2003 and can be configured by the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard. Additionally, there is firewall software, such as Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA), that can be run on a separate computer. Firewall software that is run on a separate computer or firewall hardware that is not UPnP certified must be configured manually.
Re: Strange problem with Commodo Firewall
Please check the firewall, have you forwarded port 4125 and 3389 to
the external NIC of the SBS?
Technically speaking, in order to allow a remote desktop connection to a
client computer through Remote Web Workplace, a component calledTS Proxy is
used to forward TS requests through a firewall on TCP port 4125, in essence
keeping the connection alive. Once the connection is established on port
4125, the traffic is then redirected to another dynamically allocated port.
All subsequence traffic will flow through the new port at the server to the
client at port 3389.
Since the problem occurred after you replace the firewall, the problem may
be related to the hardware firewall, please also contact hardware
manufacture for help
Routing and Remote Access Basic Firewall is used by Windows Small Business Server 2003 to offer basic firewall protection.
Re: Strange problem with Commodo Firewall
Please check in RRAS if the port 4125 and 3389 is allowed in.
1. Open the RRAS management console and then expand '' <Server name>, ''
IP Routing '' , "NAT/Basic Firewall '' .
2. Right click ''Network Connection'' to choose Properties, switch to the
''Services and Ports'' tab, select the ''Remote Web Workplace'' item and
make sure "4125" listed in ''Incoming port''. Select Remote Desktop and
make sure port 3389 is allowed in.
When you run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard, click the Enable Firewall option. The Routing and Remote Access Basic Firewall is configured and enabled if ISA is not installed and if any one of the following conditions is true: You are using a dial-up connection to the Internet.
You are using a direct broadband connection to the Internet. (This option requires that your server has two network adapters.)
You are using a direct broadband connection that requires a user name and a password.
