ASUS M3N78 PRO motherboard PROBLEM

Here is the story of my PC:

• ASUS - M3N78 PRO Motherboard Socket AM2 + GeForce 8300 Chipset ATX
• AMD - Phenom X4 Quad Processor 9750 2.4 Ghz Socket AM2 + cache 4 MB 95 Watt Boxato
• Memory 2 x KINGSTON - Dimm 2 Gb 800 Mhz DDR2 Non-Ecc CL5 Tot 4GB
• Feeder Series LC POWER Super Silent 420 Watt ATX
• Case ITEK ARTIC Middle Tower ATX 500W power supply with Gray / Black
• Hard disk drive WESTERN DIGITAL - Caviar Blue 320 GB Sata 300 Mb 16 Buffer 7200 rpm

I managed to assemble everything and make sure everything worked.
At first turned you load the logo of the motherboard and immediately after the following error:
"CMOS checksum error default loaded"
With 2 options: press F1 to boot or DEL to enter the BIOS Setup.

Doing a search on Google I discover that the problem is not serious as I thought. In more than a forum that is a repeated problem with the BIOS battery, the latter being discharged does not allow you to save the configuration changes on the BIOS and then load the default settings.
According to sources, found the average life of a battery of the BIOS is around 5 years, and then download it over time.
I wonder how in my case can be discharged because the motherboard I purchased was new and sealed. I could have compromised the operation during the assembly?

Within the BIOS, the first sector boot from CD, press F10 and I can save the configuration. Doing so can not install Windows XP Home Edition and then the driver of ASUS motherboard. I realize now that the time and date settings are incorrect.

check the bios version that is supported on your processor if not upgrade
Finally, if you are sure you have assembled everything correctly you should get to replace the motherboard

I've tried to update the bios via an Asus utility running from Windows and download the updates via the Internet. But it's best to update it directly from the bios right?
Try to check the version and find out the compatibility of the processor.

Ah then I forgot, I also removed a bank of RAM (2GB), since my motherboard with Windows Home Edition 32-bit supports up to 3GB RAM, in fact I saw only 2.75 GB. To exploit all should I install a 64 bit. I thought that not until I install a 64 bit better to stay with a 2gb bench.

In each case the same upgrade to the latest version and see if the problems persist, you can upgrade from windows to do with the Asus utility or through dos cd or usb key also leaves 0.75 mb of ram

Have you got spacers behind the motherboard, if its not the MB Battery sounds like somethings shorting and power is going to earth i.e breaking the circuit and wiping your bios!!
