Directv R10 Hard Drive Replacement ???
hi,
I'm having some TIVO problems. I have an old R10 and the Hard Drive (HD) went bad. I can watch stuff I've already recorded. However, when I try to watch live tv all I get now is my cable company's message that "this channel should be available shortly." but my question is whether or not I'd be able to take the HD out of the new unit and put it in my older unit? Anyone have any advice or experience with this?

hi,
This sounds like a cable box problem - how do you know the box is "working fine"? Have you connected it directly to your TV as a test?

hi,
9 times out of 10 it's a signal strength problem. You may need an amp installed or just some cables re-arranged at the splitter. when people try to fix it themselves they usually end up causing more problems.

Strange. I've had Comcast (and its predecessor) for well over 12 years and have never regretted it. I think the reality is that the various service providers each provide comparable service, and the best one for an individual subscriber will vary based on that subscriber's needs.
