Will 9600GT 512MB DDR3 Work On my system
This is my current system
AMD Athlon X2 64 6000+
Asus M2N68 AM (PCI-Express x16 slot)
XFX Geforce 8600GT 256MB DDR3
Power Supply 400W
My question is that I want to upgrade
to Palit 9600GT 512MB DDR3 for better graphics
So will this card run on my system with 400W
8600GT is running good no issues
But will 9600GT run on My Asus M2N68 AM(motherboard) or else I need to change my Power supply to 500W.....
any suggestion????

Hey...!
9600GT will work fine on your system... But it will draw too much power from the motherboard... Its better you get a 500W Power Supply just to be safe...!
All the bets!
Re: Will 9600GT 512MB DDR3 Work On my system
The 9600GT is not a monster card. It only draws 26W at idle, 35W in 2D mode and 60W in 3D (gaming) mode. So 500W PSU with a strong +12V rail (28 Amps) has plenty of power to spare and consider getting it for its power functioning.

Palit 9600GT 512MB uses ~180 watts under full load, but it also depends on how much power your other components eat up as well and the quality of your PSU. Naturally there is a minimum requirement, which I think is 400W and some amps for the 9600gt, but that is if you ONLY had the video card hooked up (or is that with just a few things hooked up? Hmm...) There is NEVER a specific if-you-have-this-it-will-work-100%-of-the-time power requirement for ANY video cards.
What I am trying to say is that the wattage is not the only factor. Of course, it you get a something like a 750W or 1kW PSU, it will be supported. However, the quality of the PSU also comes into play along with the stress you put on the unit.
