Mac OS X Dashboard on or off
Some people find that the dashboard for performance or memory problems. Other people use the dashboard simply prefer not to see any applications that do not use turn.
You can dash off in the following way:
Open the terminal
Type the following command: defaults write com.apple.dashboard MCX-disabled-boolean YES
killall Dock (restart the dock)
For the dashboard back on again, type the following:
Type the following command: defaults write com.apple.dashboard MCX-disabled-boolean NO
killall Dock (restart the dock)

To turn Dashboard off:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES
To turn Dashboard on:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO
You have to restart the Dock after making either change for it to take effect:
killall Dock

If you don't like Dashboard taking up precious real estate on your dock, click and hold and choose "Remove from Dock" to banish it.
