Internet Explorer 7 Installation problem
Hi,
For several days I try to install Internet Explorer 7, but whenever I put the following error message: The Internet Explorer installation did not complete.
You must restart the computer to cancel all changes made by the installer.
thank you for helping me.
Re: Internet Explorer 7 Installation problem
Yes there is a solution which is to give the total right to a registry key.
SP3 appears to block such permission.
To start going in Start => Run and tapes you windir%% \ ie7.log
There will be a line in this type or more, but normally it's just one line:
IECUSTOM: unwriteable key HKCR \ Interface \ (34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D)
You open the registry:
Start => Run and tapes you regedit
Then in the left part you are looking for the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Interface \ (34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D) (that is, for example above).
You select it with a left click to bring it into surbrilance. Then you go back to Edit => Permissions ... and you make sure there is Administrator for the case "total control" of checked, otherwise check.
Do the same if there are several keys, but normally it is just this and closes the register.
Reboot and you should have IE7 which should install without problems.
Re: Internet Explorer 7 Installation problem
And for those who test RC1 Internet Explorer 8, the log file is% windir% \ ie8.log
But normally directly through the registry and changing the autorisaiton the key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Interface \ (34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D)
