Update Error For Windows XP Operating System
I am not able to Update my Windows operating system, I continuously get an Error message. I also cleaned the Temporary Internet files stored in the registry and Offline Content, deleted Cookies and History. I also made unchecked Read Only permission under Properties and it is still not allowing me to the access or change the name of this file. I tried running Registry Mechanic and CCleaner. Anyone know how to fix this problem? The Windows Updates are way out of date.
Please help me with this problem
Re: Update Error For Windows XP Operating System
Is it a legit copy of windows? If so, call or e-mail their support.
It has to be legit. Windows Defender won't even install on a non-legit computer.
(Unless you're lucky enough to know of a VL key that actually still works)
Re: Update Error For Windows XP Operating System
clear the Microsoft Internet Explorer cache. To do this, following these steps:
1. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. On the General tab, click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files section.
3. Click OK, and then click OK again.
To resolve this error, recreate the database that stores Windows Update information or Microsoft Update information on your computer. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: net stop wuauserv
3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: cd /d c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
Where c:\Windows is the folder where Windows is installed.
4. At the command prompt, type the following command including the quotes, and then press ENTER: rd /S /Q DataStore
5. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: net start wuauserv.

Re: Update Error For Windows XP Operating System
I'd try clearing IE's cache once more:
Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the General tab.
In the Temporary Internet files section, click Delete Cookies.
In the Delete Cookies box, click OK.
Click Delete Files.
Click to select the Delete all offline content check box in the Delete Files dialog box, and then click OK.
In the History section, click Clear History.
Click Yes, and then click OK.
