Re: Unable to run DOS programs since last XP update
Below are some solutions of how to trouble shoot:
Solution 1:-
Make a search of the file autoexec.nt under C: \ windows \ repair and copy same in C: \ Windows \ system32. View the properties of this file and check the read-only
Solution 2:-
You can extract the file autoexec.nt from the windows XP CD installation. Run the CD from your drive and from MS-DOS prompt, type the command:
expand D: \ i386 \ autoexec.nt_ c: \ windows \ system32 \ autoexec.nt
View the properties of this file and check the read-only
Re: Unable to run DOS programs since last XP update
Try to download MS-DOS based 16-bit Windows application on Windows XP.
16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem Path to the program that you are trying to start or install C:\Winnt\System32\config.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
or
16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem path to the program that you are trying to start or install C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
When it is downloaded, double-click it to run it. It reinstalls the missing or corrupt XP system files command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt which cause the error.
