Nvidia drivers problem with kubuntu 9.04 alpha 5
hey guys!
i have kubuntu 9.04 alpha 5 running in my computer but didn't manage to get my nvidia 8400gs drivers runing. The restricted drivers manager installs all but when i restart x server complains and asks for configuration! To have my kubuntu work properly i have to delete the file "/etc/x11/xorg.conf" then after restart all works but with the "nv" driver and nvidia driver doesn't work at all. . I have read on some forum after a lot of googling that the nvidia driver is not compatible with new xserver used in kubuntu 9.04 alpha. Is that true? Is there a fix? If not, is there some info about when will it be fixed & will it be fixed by nvidia, by the xorg community?
Re: Nvidia drivers problem with kubuntu 9.04 alpha 5
Hey!
This might happen because Kubuntu 9.04 alpha 5 is not a stable version and is still in development. So it might not be ready for proprietary drivers yet... MAy be there will be a fix soon! All the best!

Hey!
That is very true, and this coupled with the facts that it has a new Xorg version that Nvidia is still adjusting to and a new kernel as well, it is definitely not recommended for new comers to kubuntu.

Hey!
Thanks guys! From all this i understand only one thing! Only experts should experiment, so i'm gonna install a stable edition... But if i don't experiment, how will i be an expert? :bleh: Thanks anyways!
