Using smileys In Gmail Chat !

Hi,
How can i use smileys in Gmail while chatting , as we use in yahoo messenger?

for chat or email? it depends for chat just put something like

:) -- happy face (dont write happy face) and in chat i think they have sousomed i think

:( -- sad face etc.
