switching display from laptop to TV problem
Hello community,
I have a problem switching display between my laptop (hp pavilion dv 9000, graphics card geforce 7600) and my toshiba lcd tv, hdmi cable connected. In fact, everything works fine on my tv, but since yesterday I've got nothing on my laptop screen. In the nvidia control panel, I have even more opportunity to choose my display (clone, dual screen), but just there is just single display on my tv (and my laptop display is no longer listed). It came at once, just by disconnecting the cable of my pc, as I do this everyday at the end of my film, but here, nothing on the screen. Tried reboot, by doing a System Restore, nothing happens. I did the fn + f4, unsuccessfully, I have not found similar problems on the net. Does someone has an idea? I just hope my screen is not dead: (
Thank you
Re: switching display from laptop to TV problem
If your laptop and TV both have S-Video 4 pins and you stil experience no colour (B/W) problem, try to change PAL/NTCS_M settings not on TV, but on your laptop. It worked for me (I have IBM PC, Intel Extreme Graphics video card, Win XP)
First connect your laptop wand TV with the cable (S-video 4 pins)
Then, right click on your desktop and go to Graphic properties (settings). Chose output to TV and play with different settings (PAL, SECAM, NTSC, NTSC_M, NTSC_N..., etc) Whatever works for you.

Nothing should be needed, just an S-video port on the laptop to the S-video port on the TV, then press the keyboard sequence to active it.
Re: switching display from laptop to TV problem
Here is an explanation of the two different types: S-Video. Primarily the 7 pin carries both the standard s-video signals and the composite video. However, looking at the diagrams the pins match up for the correct signals for s-video so it should work correctly. Recheck that the TV is set for the correct input (s-video) jack.
