lost Windows office Home and Student
I recently dropped my laptop that I brought a month ago which had Microsoft Home and Student which I installed but after dropping it the screen was broken. I brought a new laptop and was told I could re use the MHS disc up to 3 times but I have lost it, is there anyway I use a code or something to install it onto my new laptop with out buying a new one? I have proof of purchase on a receipt. Can I find out the code from my old lap top if I manage to swap screens?
Many Thanks
Matt

If the Office product is installed you can retrieve the product number by downloading and running the Belarc Advisor. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Re: lost Windows office Home and Student
Code!! You mean registration key? The installation key is specific to the CD and cannot be used for another CD. If you cannot find the disk, I think you will not get the old key (even if you retrieve it) working for Windows office Home and Student installed from another source.
Re: lost Windows office Home and Student
Once you are connected to the Microsoft Activation Server (computer) your Product Key and other information are registered (recorded) so that Microsoft knows which computer your unique copy of Microsoft Office Home And Student 2007 was installed on. Unique because no two Product Keys are the same. If you ever have to reinstall Microsoft Office Home And Student 2007, for whatever reason(s), you can do so.....as long as you reinstall on exactly the same computer with the exact same product key. YOU CANNOT RE-INSTALL THE SAME Microsoft Office Home And Student 2007 ON ANOTHER COMPUTER, UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE IN THE LICENSE AGREEMENT.
