How Can I Fix Error Code 39?
Hello,
My CD / DVD drive has somehow become corrupted. I have tried deleting the upper and lower filter through regedit, reinstalling the driver, uninstalling and reinstalling the drive but nothing has worked.
My drive is TS-L632D on an Acer laptop.
I realize that there are a few posts on how to correct this ... and I have read them and follow the steps to correct the problem but it isn't working. Just wondering if you have anymore ideas anyone.
Any help appreciated.

Only the thing you can do is, to go to acer's website and see if they have a firmware update for your drive ... Be extremely careful which one you get.

Error code 39 registry is definitely a problem did you use this article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060) to edit the registry?
What burning software do you have? What version is it?
Have you (re) loaded the chipset drivers?
Acer Which is it exactly?
Re: How Can I Fix Code Error 39?
Hi i seem to be having the same problem with my DVD / CD rom driver,,, it say "Windows can not load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)" when i try to update driver nothing happens,,, i have also uninstalled and tried to reinstall to no success.
Also I have tried a system restore FIVE times and all of them have been unsuccessful with it saying "System Restore Incomplete." I have read in several sites about deleting the upper and lower filters in the Registry but im unsure as to weather this really safe and afraid of making more damage,,, i would be very grateful if someone could help me thank you very much

Hi,
To fix this error, first try to update the driver from the Device Manager. To open Device Manager, right-click My Computer on your Desktop, and then on the Hardware tab, select the Device Manager button.
In the Device Manager window, identify the CD or DVD drive item (with Yellow exclamation mark), right-click on it and select Update Driver. Follow the screen instructions to update the device driver and restart your PC.
