Windows Vista SP2 RC available now

The wait for Windows Vista SP2 Release Candidate (RC) is over.
Microsoft® continuously improves the Windows Vista® and Windows Server® 2008 operating systems by providing ongoing updates while working with software and hardware vendors to help them deliver improved compatibility, reliability, and performance. These updates are provided to customers by Microsoft’s hardware and software partners, as well as directly from Microsoft in the form of regularly distributed updates delivered via Windows Update. Updates to Windows are also delivered directly to some affected customers and preinstalled by PC manufacturers.

Both Windows Vista SP2 RC and Windows Server 2008 SP2 RC are available for download.The Release Candidate (RC) build is available for integrated images (English Only), containing the full OS product and SP2 in a single image for clean install or upgrade scenarios. RC Standalone packages are available in a 5 Language DVD i.e..English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

There will be a single 32-bit standalone installer (302 MB to 390 MB) for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. However, there will be two 64-bit standalone installers, including one which covers x64 architectures (508 MB to 622 MB) and one for Itanium 64-bit (384 MB to 396 MB)

Thats a great news. I am using Vista SP2 presently and would like to have Vista Sp2 RC. so is the installation process same as was till yet or will need to make some settings to get it installed. If there is any suggestion, please let me know.:crybaby:

Thats the good point. Let me make clear, If you have the SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 Beta installed, you will need to uninstall that first before installing the RC.
Use the Control Panel applet “Programs and Features” and select “View installed updates” from the top left of the task pane, under Windows, look for KB948465

You must have a genuine copy of Windows Server 2008 with SP1 or Windows Vista with SP1 installed on the computer prior to installing SP2

Windows Server 2008 released with the Service Pack 1 code included

SP2 is the first post-release Service Pack for Windows Server 2008

Starting any Windows Server 2008 SP2 or Windows Vista SP2 installations will result in Microsoft collecting information about the installation process

System requirements for installing Windows Vista SP2 RC are
1. Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista
or
2. Windows Vista; Windows Server 2008

get it downloaded from Microsoft'swebsite .
Follow the instructions to download:-
1. To start the download, click the Download button and then do one of the following, or select another language from Change Language and then click Change.

2. Click Run to start the installation immediately.

3. Click Save to copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time.
