hi,
overclocking your processor requires an alteration in the hardware settings in order to make it run faster than the manufacturer’s specification. The ideology is that the manufacturer’s ratings are a result of stringent trials and tests performed against the CPU.
If your thinking about overclocking, the first think you have to take care of is cooling. Dell use standard OEM coolers, rarely up to the job at even mild overclocks. That and the fact they like to make everything non standard fitment may pose a problem. I doubt you'll find any software to clock a dell by bios, as these features just are not present, so theres nothing to 'unlock'. Software level utilities are generaly considered not a good idea as the methods used do not work for every combination of mobo and cpu, even ones from manufacturers well known like Abit's OC Guru and Nvidia's Ntune suffer from unstable overclocks and the old BSOD. Your PC doesnt leave you with many options, but thats Dell for you.
If you can overclock from windows but not from bios. Then one of two things are happening. You are not properly overclocking in bios. And the software is making adjustments other than just upping the FSB. Your computer is not stable which is causing it not to boot.Have you ran stability tests after overclocking in windows?
