MAC OS does not recognise my Hard Disk
Hey guys!
I saw MAC OS on a friends computer which has an intel processor. I was tempted by the looks and the idea of new operating system. I try a lot of OS which are available for free [open source] on my computer. So i just borrowed the friend's MAC OS DVD. When i boot from DVD MAC starts and at the partitions selection options, it shows me only the MAC DVD and not my hard disk...! I want to try out MAC desperatly... How do i fix this error?
Re: MAC OS does not recognise my Hard Disk
hi!
Ok, When installing the MAC OS, your disk must be initialized for MAC OS. All you need to do is to go to disk utilities. When the select partition option comes there will be a task bar on the top like as in linux, where you can find the disk utilities... But be careful while formating and installing MAC because you cannot dual boot with MAC. If you want to dual boot you will need to install boot camp from within MAC OS. Hope this fixes your problem...!
All the best!
Re: MAC OS does not recognise my Hard Disk
Hey!
Thanks generous lady...! But i tried the disk utilities too... But it seems like MAC doesn't like my Hard disk...! When i asked my friend for help, he told me that his disk was shown in disk utilities...! His Hard disk is a SATA hard disk. But mine is IDE Hard disk... Is it Possible that MAC doesn't Support IDE hard disks?
Help Me...!
Re: MAC OS does not recognise my Hard Disk
Hey...!
I had tried it will SATA hard disk earlier and i got no problems! Yeah the MAC OS for intel machines is a cross over and is ported for intel and amd harware architecture... So this is a bug with MAC crossover... It DOES NOT SUPPORT IDE hard disks...! Sorry man..! you will have to wait till you get a SATA Hard disk!:whistling
