USB flash drive, connection/disconnection without stopping
On a PC (Win XP Pro), I have a USB flash drive plugged in almost constantly. It works perfectly but hundreds of times a day it disconnects and immediately reconnects (with the "ding-dong" followed a few seconds later the "dong-ding").
When I go in the workplace, it is present and operational, but from time to time (sometimes every 10 seconds, sometimes "only" every 4-5 minutes) it disappears (with the ding-dong), then reappears 2 - 3 seconds later (with the dong-ding).
This problem does not harm the good performance of the PC nor of the flash drive but because of that we have to cut the speaker of the PC (ding-dong hear 1000 times a day that ends up tiring ...).
I tried another USB stick, the problem is the same but it occurs less often
Any idea ?

Power supply worries from the USB port?

I do not want to make you afraid, but I had a similar problem not long ago with a card reader plugged into USB on the motherboard.
Regarding the sound, I found a way: go to manager (right click on the icon at the bottom of the HP and "Adjust Audio Properties") tab "Sounds" and remove the sounds of "Connecting Device" and "Disconnect Device".
On the other hand, I had to format it (after trying Windows Seven) and nothing more ... it works flawless.

I already had the same problem under Windows 2000 and 3,4 years ago
It was solved just after formatting and reinstalling Windows
