Asus Introduces Motherboard With 7 PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots
Looking for a motherboard for some serious GPGPU computing work? Then you might be interested in the new ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer motherboard, this parallel computing powerhouse features seven PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots and has two NVIDIA nForce 200 chips!
Besides supporting the new Core i7 processors from Intel, this X58 motherboard features seven PCIe 2.0 x16 slots. While three of these are "only" running at x8, the other four slots support full x16. Whether this makes sense or not is questionable, of course. Other specifications include: six Dimm slots for up to 24 GB of DDR3 RAM, six SATA 150/300 ports (supporting SATA RAID 0, 1, 10, 5), two SAS ports (supporting SAS RAID 0, 1, 10), two eSATA 150/300 ports (supporting SATA RAID 0, 1, 10, 5) and two Gigabit-Ethernet-Ports.
Not yet dated, Asus' PCIe freak also has six DDR3 memory slots that support up to 24GB of RAM, six SATA, two SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and two eSATA ports, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1 channel audio. Be sure not to drool over the keyboard.
Re: Asus Introduces Motherboard With 7 PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots
"2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots, support ATI CrossFireX™ technology at x8 link
(PCIe x16_1 blue, PCIe x16_2 black*)
1 x PCI Express x16 slot at max. x4 link(black)"
So unless in crossfire mode the black will run at 4X and the blue will run at 16X
