Booting Problem with XP Pro SP3
I want to hear if there is one who has a solution to my problem. I have a stationary PC, with 2 * 2 hard drives, running as it should. So I bought a Western Digital USB hardisk and connected. but if I close the PC down and one to start it up again is the (cabinet) when it starts up again if the USB disk is not removed.
Have a second machine where the machine also has a Western Digital USB hard drive connected and here it works as it should.
Re: Booting Problem with XP Pro SP3
Your machine is fully updated with drivers. motherboard drivers, etc., right?
First, remove all USB devices from sockets
Click Start> controlpanel> System> click Hardware tab> click Device Manager
USB controller and uninstall them , Restart the machine and put the xp cd and let Windows to find and install the USB controllers again. Once this is done, then you put your USB devices in, 1 at a time and let Windows find and install them.

Hi and thanks for your reply. The machine is fully updated rise and I've just tried your suggestion, but without the help.
It looks like the following sytem took drives (fixed and the USB Mass Storage) it goes wrong (system freezes and will not go) when the system should be to detect the USB drive.
