Problem with AMD 3200 Processor
Hi all.
I just wanted to try and overclock my computer. but i got this program called
motherboard monitor 5 and it says my cpu is running at 73 degrees
celsisus which means very high for me, and its running like that with 2
fans, one at 4500 rpm and one at 2500 rpm, its always been running like
this i guess, since it hasnt changed much for 2 weeks, i don't get any
lockups or freezing like alot of overheating cpu's.
Any suggestions?

Re: Problem with AMD 3200 Processor
Ambient room temp? Case fans, flow and ventilation? Stock hs/f on the
XP3200+ ?
My wife's XP2500+ clocked at XP3200+ speeds(2250Mhz) with a Vantec Aeroflow
and 2 case fans never goes over 50-52C. And that's max for her CPU with
modest overvolting and a decent cooler. It's kind of pointless to o/c an
actual XP3200+ since they are close to max already. Gains will be small
(100Mhz or so at best), and seat of the pants feel will be zero.
Re: Problem with AMD 3200 Processor
Anyway, what should I try to do to bring the temp down (beside applying
som
gel to the CPU and trying another fan)?
In the mean time I will set the FSB down to 200Mhz in order to not destroy
the system.
Remove and inspect the HS/Fan assembly. There's an excellent chance it's
either on backwards, not making proper contact, or has no thermal paste at
all.
Re: Problem with AMD 3200 Processor
While Athlon XP's won't die at that temperature, they can make little
errors. They shouldn't go over 60C max.
U better go for Athlon64 3200+ venice core, E3 or E3 revision, they are hard to find, but available, just jump on the retailes head for it, maybe u have to place an order, but going for venice is the best choice even if u don't overclock
U can identify venice, by checking the OPN on it, the model number should be
ADA3200BPxxx (E3)
ADA3200BWxxx (E6 core)
E6 is better then E3, but not a necisity, add a 400W SMPS from colorsit, or VIP as they are cheap & good quality, I check a colorsit with a Multimeter a few days ago, when a friend of mine was buying a PC, with A8N-E, it's really efficient & gave about 360W on 400W claiming
the stock cooling is good enough as long as u don't overclock,
Re: Problem with AMD 3200 Processor
Temperatures
CPU 51 °C (124 °F)
Cooling Fans
CPU 5851 RPM
Chassis 2560 RPM
Man 51C, are u sure u have enabled Cool n Quite, also U bette get atleast a 400W SMPS, the CPU is heating up at only 1% usage, it should be ideally at 41C, or have u already worked on it a lot
also add a side ventilation fan if possible
