Problems connecting to domain
hi,
we have a computers here at work that no matter what I try, it can't seem to connect to the domain.two computers running Windows 2000 server SP2 and Windows 2000 Pro.on login screen straight after pressing ctrl, alt, del my computer does not appear to connect to the domain as i cannot access any of my mapped drives. Everything seemed okay as usual, all other pc's that I setup worked fine. What has happened and what is the solution? Can anyone help!!!
Re: Problems connecting to domain
Try using the ip of the computer you are trying to map too. ex: \\192.168.1.15\d:\blah would map a drive to the computer's d:\blah directory. If you create a user on JD with the same credintials as your login on the workstation, and your workstation is in the same domain as JD, you shouldn't have a problem the next time you try to connect to the mapped drive. It should log in automatically.
Re: Problems connecting to domain
You need to talk to the admin person who set up the domain. It appears that you are being logged on with cached credentials, which is not correct if you are on the domain.Either the nic is not initialised or the netlogon service has not started.
Re: Problems connecting to domain
I used the following command when logged in as administrator on the local machine and connected to the VPN and it worked :runas /user:USERNAME@DOMAINNAME "mmc %windir%\system32\compmgmt.msc"
I picked compmgmt.msc so I can set the user to the administrators group under Local Users and Groups.
