Is Speedfan needed for Ubuntu
Hey Everyone,
I would like to know that is there any particular program from which i can change the speed of my fan? My CPU fan gives out a loud noise which really annoys me a lot. Can any one tell me that how can i reduce the noise of my fan? Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Re: Is Speedfan needed for Ubuntu
The lm-sensors package has basic fan/temperature monitoring and control applications and is the basis for many graphical apps. I'm pretty sure Ubuntu has some GTK fan and temperature monitoring widgets that you can add to your panels (the sensors-applet package), but I'm not sure if it lets you control fan speeds or just look at them. The commandline lm-sensors tools (pwmconfig) can control the fan speed and you can probably bind applet actions to run the appropriate commands.
Re: Is Speedfan needed for Ubuntu
Try to download lm-sensors software. This is a completely reworked package, for Ubuntu. It supports all the devices your kernel supports, as it no longer contains chip-specific code.
