Choosing between Asus P5E and Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
Having both motherboards, I wonder which to take for a Core 2 Duo E8500, 4GB (2 x 2) DDR2 pc8500 (OCZ Reaper HPC) and a 8800GT (Gigabyte).
One has a X38 chipset and the other to a P45 chipset. Yes but? There will be a little overclocking level processor is a machine just for games?
Which of the two motherboard to take?
Re: Choosing between Asus P5E and Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
Good but difficult choice to make as much as take the P45 which gives very good results in OC! The advantage was what the P5E was a crossfire because ports are PCIE X16/X16.
Re: Choosing between Asus P5E and Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
Well no, not difficult choice!
X38, engraved in 90nm, it heats and special chipset crossfire!
P45, engraved in 65nm, less heating, a single port on PCIEX16 GA-P45-UD3R.
You do not have ati, so no crossfire, so P45!

ok thank you for your partial responses.
are already fitted with the P5E (map EP45 is exchanged against my Gigabyte EP35 down) I think I'll stay with.
From what you say there were no significant benefits back to the PC with the EP45.

Not good and then the motherboard is not much in the end for games
