8800GTS - new driver crash

I have the problem that every driver is newer than the version 178.24 Windows startup (login screen) to crash, and much more at the Windows logon screen hang. At system startup, either a partially constructed image of the login window, which is frozen, or a white / black screen (divided into four rectangular areas) with colored dots, as they occur, for example, if a card is overclocked too high (pixel error). The mouse pointer is not strangely frozen.Everything works with version 178.24 of that perfectly. The same phenomenon also occurs under Vista - I thought it was vista specific, and so have just re-installed XP.The BIOS of the graphics card is not changed (overclocked). I feel as if the BIOS of the card is incorrect, since the error in XP and Vista occurs. Can someone help me?

Any remnants of RivaTuner or similar tools are not yet available or clean uninstall?Make sure your RAM has enough voltage in the BIOS.Check your 8800 temperature.

RivaTuner was indeed installed. Have uninstalled it and the latest WHQL drivers installed - the problem still exists. In the past have sometimes used Driver Cleaner to remove old driver. I should mention that my motherboard is currently a beta BIOS uses. The problem, however, in exactly the same form with several other versions on BIOS (Final versions).

8800GTs should run as hot as 100c, without crashing (hopefully). But, it would be preferable to keep temps around 70-75, if possible with the stock cooler. Normally you have to manually turn the fan speed up in the control panel. The fan speed doesn't automatically go up on a lot of the newer cards, they are scared to let you know how loud the fan actually is I guess..... So, you end up running your card at 90c, and your fan speed is still 40%, which is bad. Turn the fan speed up to 75% once (it should be very audible at this point), and keep track of the temperatures.
