RAID 1 from a partition and not a full disk
Hello,
I do not know me much in RAID technology.
That's why I have a question: is it possible to do RAID 1 between a partition on a disk and an entire disk?
Let me explain.
On the one hand, I have a 1TB disk divided into 4 partitions:
C: 30 GB (system)
D +: 320 (data, scheduled for RAID)
E: 320 (data)
F: 320 (data)
And the other I have a 320 GB disk with one partition.
Is it possible to do RAID 1 for data backup of the partition D: to the partition of the 2nd disc?
Thank you in advance.
Re: RAID 1 from a partition and not a full disk
I think that was possible. at least I'm not ..
by against, what you can do is use a program like synctoy, you start and you make a copy on your 2nd partition dison time after 1 day . the first will be longer, but then they simply synchronize 2.
Re: RAID 1 from a partition and not a full disk
No hardware in any case, the RAID controllers working at the disk, no partitions and file system that are managed by the system (Windows)
Then I think it is possible to do soft RAID, but I do not know.
Re: RAID 1 from a partition and not a full disk
In Windows XP the raid soft does not make the mirror, Must be technically possible with the Intel Matrix Raid, It is playable under linux with the linux RAID (software).
