Overclock an AMD Athlon 4400 +
Hi,
Here you can see from the title I have a amd athlon 4400 + and I was to overclock the better to keep the road in games. So if you can give me advice I am open to suggestions.
My configuration:
Processor: AMD Athlon 4400 +
Ram: 2 x 1024MB GSkill PC6400
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4870
Power: Corsair CX400
Motherboard: Asus M3N78
Re: Overclock an AMD Athlon 4400 +
The best would be to simply change the cpu, it must limit the depth HD4870, It could take the 2.6GHz. but hey, it's still light I think, you can always try.
If it still will not change should be cpu to a phenom II if you want to keep your motherboard (if it's am2 +) or alternatively from at Intel.
Re: Overclock an AMD Athlon 4400 +
Yes it's amd 2 +. I intend to just take a phenom later but for now I just want to take a month or two with this processor is for her that I wanted to try to overclock. And as I never overclock I do not know how to do it so if someone could help me.
Re: Overclock an AMD Athlon 4400 +
I doubt the BIOS options leave much room for overclocking.
If you can, raise the CPU freq to 250MHz, lower the HT multi to 4x, set the RAM speed to 266MHz (DDR533), lock the PCI-E at 100MHz, disable all Spread Spectrum settings, disable Cool 'n Quiet, raise the CPU voltage slightly (if necessary).
That will put the CPU at 2.875GHz & the RAM at approx 667MHz again...IF you can do it.
