Windows XP Says 'BOOTMGR Missing' Please Help
Hi Guys,
My computer was working perfectly with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3. I installed a software which i use at my work place. Now the installation stuck so i tried to close it from Task Manager, it stuck my computer. I had only one option : to restart it physically and so i did. Now the computer says "BOOTMGR is missing" Now i can't start my computer. Is there a way to fix this without screwing my data? Please help guys...!

Try to fix your windows by selecting repair option.
- Boot your computer with the Windows XP CD
- At the first screen select R to repair

Hey!
Extremely sorry, but i thouth you would know how to fix the BOOTMGR. Ok now that you are at the console recovery prompt [not the normal command prompt]
you will need to select your operating system. If you have onle one Operating system installed press 1 and then press Enter. Now to repair the boot sector [Bootmgr is on the mbr which is the first sector of the hard-disk also know as boot sector] type in the following code :
then if prompt for confirmation type in Y and press enter.
This will fix your problem for sure.
All the best!

Yes, there is the possibility for the same. Are you trying to do "Boot from CD" and getting those messages ? Also, try some another CD/DVD as there might be some problem with the installation disk as well.

Any idea on how to proceed with the same problem if the computer in question is a netbook and has no cd-rom?
Re: Windows XP Says 'BOOTMGR Missing' Please Help
You can get an external DVD/ CD ROM from the friend of yours. You can connect the device through USB port of netbook. Can you tell me which netbook do you having?

Re: Windows XP Says 'BOOTMGR Missing' Please Help
I had the same problem too before but it's now done solved. I asked a more technical person than I to resolve it and so he did. Like you, I've tried everything I could but unfortunately the effort is not enough.
Re: Windows XP Says 'BOOTMGR Missing' Please Help
Have you tried with the startup repair of the Windows XP? This is not the normal Windows installation. This will just replace all the missing or corrupted operating system files which also includes the BOOTMGR. This can solve the problem for you.
