Hey people,
My paper shredder is not working properly.It seems to be dead.
I need to have a good but not too expensive paper shredder. Since I was hoping to find something where I can drop in the whole credit mail offer envelope and not even have to open it. Any suggestions.

Strip-Cut Shredders
Strip-cut shredders, also known as straight-cut or spaghetti-cut, slices the paper into long, thin strips.
Strip-cut shredders generally handle a higher volume of paper with lower maintenance requirements.
Shred size may vary from 1/8 to 1/2 inch.
Narrower strips provide better security.
Since the strips don't compress well, you'll need a larger basket you will have to keep on eptying on a frequent basis.
Cross-Cut
Cross-cut shredders provide more security by cutting paper vertically and horizontally into confetti-like pieces.
The shredded paper compresses better so the basket holds more cut paper.
The trade-off is these shredders may require more maintenance and generally cost more.
With patience someone could reconstruct any shredded document. Cross-cut shredders just make the job a lot more tedious.

Strip-cut shredders, the least secure, use rotating knives to cut narrow strips as long as the original sheet of paper. Grinders A rotating shaft with cutting blades grinds the paper until it is small enough to fall through a screen.

shreaders are cheap, if it doesn't work anymore cut off the plug and put it into the garbage. I understand your concern but I don't know that there are reusable parts and it costs more to repair it than it's worth plus I don't think people would take on that job of fixing it because labor is so high.
