Microsoft Project Server 2007
We have a Project Server containing various teams with its own status manager and each status manager should approve the Updates of their respective team task. I mean, in case any new task is added to the project server, it must be and only can be approved by the project owner itself. And once project manager approves the task, automatically it will become Status Manager.
Now the problem we are facing doing this is we are not able to change the status manager automatically when a new task is created. Do anyone here have any idea regarding this ? Please help.
Re: Microsoft Project Server 2007
As far as I have worked on MS Project, I don’t think there is any automatic method of changing the Status Manager for a task. Each Status manager need to open the project, insert Status Manager Field in any task view temporarily and then select his/her name in the Status Manager field for every task. This is the only way I know and think is possible.
Re: Microsoft Project Server 2007
Hi,
The status Manager for any task can be editted by using the statusing Web Service and calling its function eighter update Status or setAssignmentWorkData. You need to compose a change Xml for that and inclide the statusGuid of the desired resource.
The other way can be to use direct calls to the Assignment Table of Published Database and change the Field called "WRES_UID_MANAGER".
Hope this helps.
Re: Microsoft Project Server 2007
OF course nothing special is automatic, but everything can be automated...
I actually wrote a macro for this for one of my clients.... When they want they run it... which of course could be set up to run anytime a publish event happens...
Think IN the box as well as out... solutions always exist..
