I've got the same problem and I resolved it doing this:
With 7zip I unzipped the PC Suite.exe file, into the new folder (with the name”PC Suite”) I found and install the PCSS.exe and after that I installed the PC Suite.exe that was into the “PC Suite” folder...

not sure if you have tried this, when using the normal LG software your phone can not be locked when you connect. Ensure the phone is showing the home screen, and is lit then try connecting. For some reason if the phone is locked it will not connect to the PC.
The solution for Your problems is easy - just activate the security option and after that (during the connection with Your phones) enter the code. In my case it works just fine!!!
Your mobile has to be turned on.
If You want to be able to see the contents of your LG Viewty on your PC, you don't have to install the software. Here's a very simple solution to that:
On your Viewy go to
1.Phone Settings,
2.select Connectivity,
3.select USB connection Mode
4.set it to Mass storage, (select)
5.go back to main screen, and connect your USB to the PC
6.Your Viwety should go immediately to USB mode
7. On your PC, Go to Computer, and look for the removable driver that corresponds to the new connection (your viewty), click on the driver icon and you should be able to see your phone's content if u have a flash memory inserted on your phone
