Core 2 Duo Mobile T5800 is very hot
Hello,
I just got a Core 2 Duo Mobile T5800 in my HP laptop dv6605ed installed (to replace an Intel Celeron M 530). Since my laptop from the same series of dates as models with a Core 2 Duo Mobile users, I actually assume that the cooling would be no problem. Originally I wanted OCZ Freeze refrigerated pasta, but I could not find it as soon as that was in stock, so I only used what Cooler Master Premium.
With SpeedStep enabled it runs 90% of the time with a multiplier of 6x or 8x. After about 3 minutes stressing he has reached a temperature of around 65-70C and as he Processor Finder can have up to 85C, I find that quite high.
Idle with multiplier of 6-8: 25-30C
Load 10x multiplier with 65-70C
Is it normal that Core 2 Duo Mobile's so hot and so much more important: is it harmful?
Re: Core 2 Duo Mobile T5800 is very hot
It has no problem but it is on the high side so if you around google it you see that you are not alone with temps around 70 (which is still 15 degrees below the max is ..)
Re: Core 2 Duo Mobile T5800 is very hot
You do not forget that CPUs in stress state so much hotter than a CPU of a desktop because of the limited cooling? My AMD Turion X2 ishas least 70 degrees if I have a game to play AC , and if I continue for a while to get the 85 degrees with ease, as I have several times at 85 degrees to play without any form of "failure".
Make it so no worries, because it can be easy.
Re: Core 2 Duo Mobile T5800 is very hot
I have a T5500, which is not hot. Is very cool indeed. But then I also have no heavy programs.
A Celeron usually does not require function and is often warmer. At least that is my experience.
There are also special laptop coolers for sale.
