1) I want details on the specifics of transferring files on windows XP pro system.
In fact I just bought a new computer I reinstall my XP Pro (CD version). I saw that we could not because the license is valid for my old computer.
2) I saw more of the file transfer option in the programs is that a good formula because I want to put everything on my new (using RJ 45) or should I buy external DD ?
Does your old computer was a branded one or a computer mounted on a position? You can try to reuse the license from your old PC if you no longer serve it. To transfer files, I advice you to take advantage of this new facility to do some cleaning in your files. Try to manually transfer to which you really need and no more.
it is a mounted PC, unfortunately not by me, on my old PC I do not know what to do, I think even give it to an association (and yes even I am surprised). If it is a PC mounted on a position (the former), then you can pull the license problem XP that is installed on.
Simply retrieve the label stuck on it, find a corresponding CD XP (Home or Pro) and install the new PC. We must not forget to delete the contents of the old PC so that the two licenses are not in opposition.
To transfer data, you can burn it to DVD you need (as it is stored in disk). You can also have fun with a big USB key (must have patience). Or put the two PCs networked (Ethernet crossover cable directly connected for example).
