Changing virtual memory settings for Windows XP
Microsoft Windows XP Home and Professional have the ability to use part of the hard drive on your system as extra memory. This is known as virtual memory, and provides Windows XP with additional memory space if it becomes necessary. The virtual memory file that Windows XP creates on the hard drive is known as a swapfile.
