Problems with AVM FRITZ! WLAN USB Stick

Hi, my friend had set up DSL Wlan. He has WinXP SP2 on it. When he boots up the PC, the USB stick is not recognized. Once out and again and it works. But it is not working any more in recent days. How can I fix this? Are there any patches or so? Thank you
