Backup and restore issue in vista
Hello there,
I tried to backup my hard drive for the first time using the Backup and restore center in Windows Vista. As soon as I select C: drive as the drive I wish to back up it states the following error:
Quote:
Windows has detected file system corruption on C:. You must check the disk for errors before it can be restored
I need to backup all my date in C drive. please help me to fix this.
Thank you!

Click once on the blue Vista start button and in the Start Search box type Command Prompt. Right-click on the Command Prompt link that appears and select Run as administrator. In the Command Prompt window type SFC /SCANNOW and press the enter key on your keyboard. This procedure will check the intergity of all Windows Vista system files and repair them if possible.

If its file corruption within your program then reboot and press F8 until the boot menu comes up, select Safe Mode and do a restore from there.
If you still get the message open My Computer, RIGHT click the C drive and select Tools. Click on Error Checking and click both boxes. Windows will tell you that it will need to perform a check on the drive during the next boot. Click OK and reboot let it go into windows. try a system restore.

This sounds very much like your hard drive may be going bad. Go to the manufacturer's site and see if they have any disk checking software. If they do: run it. An overnight test would be good.
To find out the manufacturer, try going to the properties page of
the device in Device Manager under Disk Drives (make sure you get the right one if you have more than one).
