Hi,
I am having a problem regarding my computer hardware device. It seems my computer keeps providing defective sound. It's not originating form one type of harware such as CD-RW. All this sound consists of intermittent interruptions and to tell you more It's very irritating. I have also tried the windows troubleshooter for sound and it is of no use. I have a new sound card and new drivers but it seems there is the problem existed from an old sound hardware too.
Please help me regarding this
Most likely it's a Hardware configuration problem, probably Irq sharing or a bottleneck somewhere. What are the hardware specs of the system? You may need to assign a different IRQ to your sound card.
if it's pre-built, the make and model is enough (dell, inspiron 530) for example. If it's a custom rig, we need the motherboard, video card, cpu, ram, sound card any add in cards, drives, and usb devices attached, etc. If you don't know the info, click the download link at the top of the forum page, click on the optimizers & diagnostics link, download pc wizard and run it. It will give you all the information you need.
Have you tried upping yuor virtual memory (if you have enough disk space)? I did this on my last pc running win98 and it sorted the mp3 problems!
Check the properties of your harddrive to verify DMA is enabled. Device Manager> disk drives> your HD> properties> settings> DMA
Open multi-media in control panel, click audio tab > advanced properties (playback). Change hardware acceleration to none.
