Network Notification area Greyed out
Hi,
When I am trying to set up the Network connection from My Network Places the Network location icon no longer shows in the notification area and as well as the checkbox given for the network seems to be greyed out in the Taskbar settings.
If anyone find any solution to this problem please let me know.
Thanks in Advance.
Re: Network Notification area Greyed out
I tried this which I got from another internet site and it worked run 'regedit.exe' goto key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\LocalSettings\ Software Microsoft\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify delete keys 'IconStreams' & 'PastIconsStream' Start task manager, go to process and kill explorer.ex go to applications in the task manager, hit new task and type 'explorer.exe' explorer will now reboot and your icons should return. I had to go to task manager and check the network and volume buttons.
Hope it works for you

You may also try using the following,
Start > Run > gpedit.msc > under 'User Configuration' > Adminisrative Templates > Start Menu And Taskbar > on the Right Pane
Remove the Netwroking Icon and Remove the Volume Control Icon
Double Click on them > Disalbed > Apply > Not Configured > Apply > Ok
Log Off >< Log In
Then ... Right Click on taskbar > Properties > notification area > Check 'Volume' and Network' > Apply > Ok
Re: Network Notification area Greyed out
Right-click the Notification Area, and goto Properties. Click the Notification Area tab, and then check "Network" in the system icons.
