Acrobat Reader 9 installation error
Hi there,
I have downloaded acrobat reader 9.0 from the Adobe site and managed to do an install on my laptop.
Unfortunately when I try to install on other PC a see installation running to 100% but than get a info box stating "Excel 8.0 in not found in this machine". Thereafter Excel interactive installation starts and finishes but Acrobat Reader 9.0 is never installed.
Have rebooted PC and re-ran procedure couple of times but no joy.
Please help...

Re: Acrobat Reader 9 installation error
remove registry entries that reference directory C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\sapgui\FILC.
This FILC directory contains the CAB files to install SAP Interactive Excel. It seems that Install Shield would refer to an installation path in the registry whenever Install Shield started. I determined that the FILC directory was involved by using Windows Process Explorer and saw that the installation process had this file open: C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\sapgui\FILC\_isdel.exe
Re: Acrobat Reader 9 installation error
I didnt understand why is JonathanD talking about installing SAP?? Where did SAP come from :uhm:
@ mitos
When are you seeing this error message? Is it when you have tried to install Reader 9 and the progress window reaches 99+% ?
Many people have that problem. Sometimes the Reader installation window just disappears. Sometimes a message seemingly completely unrelated to Reader pops up. When that message is clicked off the Reader installation window again disappears and no installation occurs.
So far there seems to be no solution that works for all.
If the above does not apply to you, then probably there is no need to read further.
Some have had success by first uninstalling any previous version of Reader and cleaning out all references to it in the Registry.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\{AdobeReaderProductGUID}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InstallerFeatures\{AdobeReaderProductGUID}
Reader 8.1.2 Product GUID is: 68AB67CA7DA73301B7448A2100000030.
To identify the {AdobeReaderProductGUID} if you did not have v 8.1.2:
- Open Regedit
- Browse to the locations above
- Highlight the ProductGUID list in the left pane (under Products & Features), then selecting one at a time look for the "ProductName" in the right pane
- Once you have POSITIVELY identified the proper keys - Delete them
Others have had success using a different and leaner download executable.
