Re: HDMI Problem for Ati Radeon 9250
I've heard that the Radeon 9200 series has some issue with HDCP that may cause this, but I thought that HDCP was only an issue regarding HDMI -> DVI.

As best I can determine you have a stanard 4:3 aspect rationCRT TV which can display up to 800 scan lines which means that 1024x768 would be the max resolution you could use. However, you may be able to send it 720p over HDMI and it will letterbox the display.
In any case it will do a poor job if you try to use it for PC desktop applications since it is designed to be a TV and not to also be a PC monitor so it will have blurry text as a monitor.
Re: HDMI Problem for Ati Radeon 9250
the HDMI port is designed for CE devices such as set top boxes or HD dvd players and it only supports two resolutions 1280x720 and 1920x1080. That probably explains why only 1280x720 works on it. You can't get its native 1366x768 so you picture quality will be inferior. One more issue is that the HDMI port overscans the incoming video, so you will get a zoomed in frame and lose 5 - 15% of screen area. Some nvidia drivers will let you counter the overscan to gain back the lost area but you will end up with a weird resolution and most likely your picture quality will suffer.
The bottom line is that the HDMI port on LCD simply does not work with DVI. I settled with VGA and the picture quality is awesome. Until someday tv and Nvidia both get the new "DisplayPort " which is of course 100% digital and has plug and play for digital TV in mind, I have to stay with VGA. Both tv and Nvidia and ATI (AMD) are in the "DisplayPort" camp so this will come true within a couple of years."
