At Google, the Chrome developers have revealed the first screenshots of Mac OS X browser. It is recognized from the outset that the interface is already familiar with Windows, but of course adapted to the operating system from Apple. Yet the differences are not legions, and for good reason: it is only a first version used.
Suddenly, Mike Pinkerton, the editor of Mountain View, warns ex officio that it is still difficult to give a release date for the final version of this version of Chrome. Moreover, by "usable" Google merely know that this version render basic Web pages. Work is progressing well, but there will be serious problems to circumvent.
The implementation of WebKit in Mac OS X currently does not isolate a copy of a renderer in a process for each tab. So, Google should work around this limitation, because remember that each tab has its own memory area and, in case of crash of the page, does any other tab. There are advantages in terms of safety and reliability, but the memory consumption is therefore to review the rise. So, as you can see above, there are instances of the browser crashing on the working version, WebKit could not function properly.
Mac users take the time, because Chrome is not there yet, far from it. Google did not specify whether the time limit indicated above, ie by June, will be respected

Frankly, the separation process is really not the functionality that I expect a web browser ... I understand the interest but I gladly pass. Rather, the system modules that seems to be a big lack also I do not understand why Google Chrome is not coded directly in Qt 4. It would have a software multiplatform from the start.

Funny open source with Google. Often, projects are born on linux and then ported to other OS, or are immediately portable. One has the open source browser designed for Windows which ages 3 to arrive elsewhere.

Type open source is not under windows. Sorry to disappoint you but a lot of open source software have been created and exists only in windows. Just as there are also a package that exists only under linux. When we see the development of software from Google, the Windows version has always been preferred .. And what is a process tab is clearly the element that they bring forward as a difference from the other browser. I can understand it as one of their priority

In June-July 2007, Trolltech is beginning to adapt to integrate Webkit with Qt 2's library, which is the main library on which KDE. This addition will allow Qt to provide a motor HTML / JavaScript Complete. The Webkit in Qt is available since version 4.4.0. 3. This integration of Webkit has been announced by developers Trolltech KDE aKademy during 2007. In view of this, many developers feel that it would be interesting to use the Webkit Qt, creating a KPart to replace KHTML 3.
