Hi,
I intend to buy a multifunction printer to less than 100 €. I read a comparison of printers and I saw that Canon enjoyed a better quality but that HP were read thrifty. I also read that scan, the Canon is better, but the cartridges dry out faster. In the end I hesitate between these 2 printers:
Canon MP540 and HP C4480
Which seems the best value for money ?

I imagine that you plan to scan paper photos. Usually scan, Canon is better than hp primarily for the colors. To scan images from paper, using a resolution 300pp all scanners have that .
But to scan a batch of paper photos (several hundred I guess ...) and better quality, I would not multifunction scanner but a flatbed scanner. Canon MP540 will make it very well and will be much faster. Or scan it takes time.
