ATI Radeon 4870X2 vs Geforce GTX 280
I will soon buy a new PC and wondering which video card I should buy. It's between the ATI Radeon 4870X2 2GB and Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 Who should I choose? Have heard that the 4870X2 is running with the crossfire, and that it may give less performance in some games?
Another question: I will most likely buy this screen: Samsung 22 "Wide Syncmaster T220, 1680x1050.
Since this monitor does not have the greatest resolution, is there any point with such a good video card? I do like to have a PC that I can play games smoothly with full graphics for a while to come, and I have advice for one of these cards. Will the other "top card" in the near future that is worth looking at? What do you say?

4870x2 gravel GTX280, and no crossfire needed (as far as I know). Will have 4870x2 with a 680i SLI motherboard
Re: ATI Radeon 4870X2 vs Geforce GTX 280
GTX280 is a great card and it will be lasting a long time. For 4870x2, it may give worse fps in some games, but ATI has been good to get up in performance in the games eventually with better drivers. CrossFire, works no better than the SLI solution when it comes to get more performance of short-NR2. In Crysis nvidia card is the best, and FarCry2 coming soon and the well is probably sponsored by nvidia again. Anyway so I think GTX280 with goals in the resolution (although a 4870x2 is better).

In Crysis, 4870x2 is best (compared with a 280GTX) in resolutions from 1600 x 1200 with high and very high. This is also reported from users which has 4870x2.
In short, in most new games 4870x2 will have the upper hand on 280GTX in high resolutions.

ATi perform better in most games, and I doubt that you'll only be playing Crysis, so people can stop to take it? Crysis keeps in my eyes not counted as benchmark, when running SLI better than Crossfire, and NVidia has also an advantage at times. Although ATi is better for most other games
