Procedure FOr CPU IHS Lapping

hi there.......
i have heard a lot about lapping CPU's IHS or we can say lapping processor.
can anyone provide me information regarding how to lapp you CPU IHS.
Also provide me some information regarding lapping and why we do it?
Is it regarding Improvement of your processor or better functioning of your motherboard..........

Please provide some views on this..................

About Lapping:

Lapping is a machining operation, in which two surfaces are rubbed together with an abrasive between them, by hand movement or by way of a machine.

This can take two forms. The first type of lapping traditionally called grinding, typically involves rubbing a brittle material such as glass against a surface such as iron or glass itself also known as the "lap" or grinding tool with an abrasive such as aluminum oxide, emery, silicon carbide, diamond, etc., in between them. This produces microscopic conchoidal fractures as the abrasive rolls about between the two surfaces and removes material from both.

The other form of lapping involves a softer material for the lap, which is "charged" with the abrasive. The lap is then used to cut a harder material—the workpiece. The abrasive embeds within the softer material which holds it and permits it to score across and cut the harder material. Taken to the finer limit, this will produce a polished surface such as with a polishing cloth on an automobile, or a polishing cloth or polishing pitch upon glass or steel.

Taken to the ultimate limit, with the aid of accurate interferometry and specialized polishing machines or skilled hand polishing, lensmakers can produce surfaces that are flat to better than 30 nanometers. This is one twentieth of the wavelength of light from the commonly used 632.8 nm helium neon laser light source. Surfaces this flat can be molecularly bonded (optically contacted) by bringing them together under the right conditions.

You can use this steps for lapping any processor and also it's equivalent with all the processor manufacturing brands.
Follow the procedure carefully or else it may destroy or damage your processor. Try to go as per the instruction given below:

• First remove the Processor placed in the motherboard carefully.
  
• As there is a separate slot placed for processor on any motherboard, try to remove it properly from the pins without disturbing other components.
  
• Remove it from the Nickel layer.
  
• Try to use a 120 grit wet sandpaper.
  
• Now start off with 120 grit wet sandpaper.
  
  
• The reason behind using a wet sandpaper is because It allows you to remove more IHS material placed on the back of your processor in a shorter span of time.
  
• To make a hard and rough sandpaper wet, try to dipp the entire portion of sandpaper inside water and wipe off any reamin water.
  
• Now the sandpaper becomes more easy to handle for IHS material.
  
• Try to wash the sandpaper again and again as a means for removal of the tin layer and make flat IHS in true sense.
  
• Not to bother about shine or smoothness of the CPU IHS as the results will provide a stretch kind of surface.
  
• Turn the IHS approximately 90 degrees as to notice the condition of IHS after 45 or more strokes on the sandpaper.
  
• As you finish, make a note of the view of how the surface of the IHS looks like and also use a metal coin and try to remove any reamined stains or any kind of particles still remaining on the surface.
  
• Try to clean the surface with the help of sandpaper.
  
• Continue cleaning the surface and remove marks or remained stains from 120 grit wet sandpaper.
  
• A bit twist in the story.Now try to use this time a wet 400 grit sandpaper.
• Use 400 grit wet sandpaper to remove the markings from the 120 grit wet sandpaper.
  
• Try to keep the IHS true and clean. Then turn the IHS approximately 90 degrees and clean out the scratches and scribbling made by the 120 grit wet sandpaper.
  
• Not to keep concern about the shine or any doubt smooth surface, your concentration should be on flat and clean surface on the IHS.
  
• It may take some more duartion but, when you achieve a 400 wet sandpaper grit scratches on the IHS for maintaining a true and clean surface, You may now proceed 800 wet grit sandpaper.
  
• Keep in mind that the 400 wet grit sandpaper marks few stains behind and also try to remove all those stains. Try to clean the surface of the IHS of loose debris and clean the sandpaper with water and keep aside for sometime to dry.
  
• Try to smooth out the surface area of IHS.
  
• Try to wet the 600 grit sandpaper and 800 grit sandpaper and start to work on cleaning the 400 wet grit sandpaera markings of the IHS.
  
• Turn the IHS approximately 90 degrees and also use the 600 wet grit sandpaper upon 800 wet grit sandpaper for a much more flater, smoother and more clean surface.
  
• Also concentrate to keep the surface of the IHS flat and smooth and clean. Clean all the material you want to clean the 400 wet grit sandpaper stains with 600 wet grit sandpaper marks and also from the 800 wet grit sandpaper marks.
  
• As you finished with the 800 wet grit sandpaper, make a detailed note on how the surface is actually looking after all the above procedures. Make a detailed note of the 800 wet grit sandpaper stains left on the surface.
  
• Clean the stains and also clean the surface of IHS, then try to clean the sandpaper and keep it drying for sometime.
  
• Settle up your lapping work.
  
• Try to wet the 1000 grit sandpaper to 2000 grit sandpaper and concentrate on removing the scribblings from the 800 wet grit sandpaper and 1000 wet grit sandpaper stains on the IHS, turning the IHS position as per requirement.
  
• No need to think about cleaning of material at this point of time; But make sure the IHS remained true and clean. The surface area should be true and clean by this step.
  
• Now the only thing you have to do is settle up lapping from 120 wet grit sandpaper to 600 wet grit sandpaper by cleaning out the IHS surface area using 800 wet grit sandpaper to 2000 wet grit sandpaper as much as possible at this point.
  
• At 2000 wet grit sandpaper you sholud be looking for accurate clean surface, and not stains marks or other imperfections in the IHS.
  
• And your home work is done.
• The all new IHS is ready in front of your eyes..

Personel View:

You will get Temperature difference of about 3 degree cecius 4 degree Celcius
from the previous one.

It's been my experience that you get the Ultimate better results when you imply wet sandpaper in this process.

It's also been my experience that using the twistturn method is worth.
