never noticed both an AMD64 and i386 folder on 2k3 x64 cd?
Hello,
just wondering about both an AMD64 and an i386 directory on Windows Server
2003 x64 edition CDs (both enterprise and standard). If I just saw AMD64 I
would have just thought, ok, its the 64bit edition, so theres 64bit
source... but since I see both amd64 and i386 I was wondering exactly what
the deal was?
RE: never noticed both an AMD64 and i386 folder on 2k3 x64 cd?
Hello James,
The AMD64 folder contains 64-bit versions of the files
the i386 folder contains the 32-bit versions of the files
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Hi Darrell, thanks for the reply.

Re: never noticed both an AMD64 and i386 folder on 2k3 x64 cd?
Hello James,
Correct, the 32-bit files are copied to the syswow64 folder under Windows(
as well as the program files (x86)folder ), which is the set of files that
allows you to run 32-bit programs
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]
