Is my configuration enough for overclocking
Hello,
I want to know if I can OC my CPU because it is limited in some games.
Thank you!
Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 GHz Socket 478
1.50 GB of RAM
MSI 648 Max (MS-6585)
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (256 MB) AGP 8x
Maxtor 120 GB 7200 RPM Ultra-ATA/133
Heden Power Supply 350 Watts Max
Re: Is my configuration enough for overclocking
it is possible to OC but your power supply may be limited so you will have to rethink before overclocking your rig.
Re: Is my configuration enough for overclocking
I'm a newbie as i said. Whats the best utility to OC my CPU. I'll try out maybe 2.5ghz look how hot the cpu will become.
And thanks for your good advice.
So the temperature will be low enough for 2.5 ghz, and it wont be too high that i will damage something, or anything else that can happen.
I might buy a GFX Card cooler because of the stupid sound the stock cooler makes :(
AI Booster the best utility or what should i use?
Re: Is my configuration enough for overclocking
I had a 2.4b on an MSI 655 board (similar to yours) and it wouldn't overclock worth crap. MSI boards just don't provide the voltage for real overclocking, and your chip needs pretty serious voltage to get a good increase.
I switched to an IS7 and was able to hit 3.0 GHz pretty easily with the new board. The IC7 will only do better. If you want to get a better overclock, the new mobo is the way to go.
