Have you added anything to your computer before you tried to install ? If the hardware is really ok then you must have the RAM as a source of error if which is excluded, then it could be a repair installation . It will delete all programs and files, and only the Windows files are stored in their original state. You must then, however, your "ServicePack3" and the uptodate security updates. That yes you can start using the "Windows XP Update Pack" here done quickly and well.

If you are facing these error then follow the steps below to fix:
- Boot your computer using the "Last Known Good Configuration" option.
- Reset Windows TCP/IP for removing any network hooks using the netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt command at DOS prompt.
- Download and Run Winsock Fix to repair Winsock.
- Download any good malware software , Scan and clean all detected infections.
- Reboot and the problem should be fixed.

If you had sometimes back or just applied a patch that might have upgraded or replave ntoskrnl or ntdll.dll the you can boo into recovery console and browse to the $NtUninstall directory as for the fixing it rename the offending file copy the file from its uninstall directory to \winnt\system32 try to boot the machine.
