Cannot download Adobe Flash Player to 64-bit Vista
I have 64 bit IE7 installed on my Vista 64 bit. But adobe flash player is not working with this browser. Also I keep getting message that there is currently no flash player available for 64 bit Vista. However, I have tried that Adobe flash player on my friends machine which has 32 bit browser and it works properly on it. So is there a way so that I can install and run adobe flash player on 64 bit Vista?
Re: Cannot download Adobe Flash Player to 64-bit Vista
This is what is given on Adobe site,
Quote:
Issue
Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.
Reason
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following Flash Player 10.
Solution
To use Flash Player to view Flash content on a 64-bit operating system, you must run a 32-bit browser.

Installing Adobe Flash Player on Vista 64 bit:
- Open Internet Explorer (Make sure your not using the 64 bit version)
- Visit this link to download and install the Adobe Flash Player addon
If all goes well, you should now be able to view those flash sites in all their glory using Internet Explorer on your Windows Vista 64 bit System.

Meanwhile, run the 32 bit IE 7, this will allow you to use the 32 bit Flash plugin. Personally, I have it installed but disabled, so I don't see all the annoying animated ads that are friggin EVERYWHERE these days. I enable it only when I really need it.
Re: Cannot download Adobe Flash Player to 64-bit Vista
You download the latest and greatest version of the Adobe Flash Player. After it finishes installing, you go to a site featuring Flash content and are greeted with a message notifying you that you need to install Flash Player, but didn't you just do that? To properly update your Flash Player, you need to run the installation as Administrator. Follow these steps to properly install Adobe Flash Player:
For Vista (64 bit):
- Open Computer.
- Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
- Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
- Open the Flash directory.
- Right-click FlashUtil9x where x is some letter.
- Select Run as Administrator.
- When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
- Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.
Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.
