Re: No midi sound in Vista
so you also got one of that vista error. this is well known issue with Vista not only this but vista is having lot of issues with older software also . The good part is that its all related tp drivers. Since that is the case it can be fixed... the real problem occurs when you have a manufacturer who hasn't got around to it yet... or is even giving the impression that they may never get around to it.
Re: No midi sound in Vista
There is always a default MIDI sound driver stored in Vista . only user can change the MIDI software synth by editing the registry, which is obviously difficult and risky. This means that there isn't any user interface to choose between different MIDI drivers like it was in the previous versions of Windows.
Re: No midi sound in Vista
As you said your pc plays internet video files on youtube maybe other mp3 files.also of if is that when Windows Media player plays MIDI files no sound comes out (the slider on theplayer shows that it is playing the file - just silently). This suggests to me either that some midi driver is missing or that thedefault soundfont for midi is not properly installed. you can try it out hope it does help you
Re: No midi sound in Vista
windows Vista is not like windows XP, and vice versa, so a lot of the hardware and software in the Windows world will NEED to evolve to work well in Vista, plain and simple. To be quite honest, I've slowly formed a negative opinion of Realtek audio chipsets, which I see far too many people having trouble with under Vista. I myself have had a bit of problems with my older Realtek AC97 drivers, though I think less so than those who have the newer HD audio chipsets. If I were you, I would consider a hardware solution to the problem, perhaps an ASIO compatible USB/FireWire sound card.
