BIOS clock reset
Hi,
I Have dell pc running windows xp Sp2, now the problem is that when i turn off my and then when i start my pc It returns to the same date (probably a production date) after reboot. I tried setting it up in boot menu, but the problem remained. Is there a way to fix this problem ?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Re: BIOS clock reset
Hi,
I would say there is a good chance the main board battery is dead.
Try replacing this. Otherwise, you could try a BIOS update from dell.com

Re: BIOS clock reset
When the PC is shut down, the power supply has a standby voltage which is always powering the motherboard as long as it's plugged in.
In the event of total power loss, the BIOS settings would be set to defaults. Unless you have changed BIOS settings yourself, the default settings would stay in place regardless of power situation. The time is not a default setting, the original date is the default setting.

Re: BIOS clock reset
I updated the BIOS and it did not fix the problem.
The system time and date are the only items that revert to default settings when the power is disconnected. I have to assume it is something to do with the CMOS battery so I will replace it.
