Installing USB drivers with DPInst.exe not working
Hello to all,
Here is my problem i'm using DPInst.exe 2.1 and i tried to install ftdibus.inf and ftdport.inf USB drivers . I was using legacyMode because this are unsigned USB drivers. & I did the successful installation with Dpinst.exe but still i gets promt with the message "Find New hardware" when plugs in my USB devices. Please help me out. And tell me the reason why this is happening.
Re: DPInst.exe not working
I'm facing exactly same thing . If some buddy have solution then please lead us. Apparently a windows hotfix is responsible for this and unfortunately it has no uninstall functionality. I will get back to you if I manage to pinpoint the hotfix that is the culprit.
Re: Installing USB drivers with DPInst.exe not working
If the hardware is usb connected then that would make it a PNP device. Have a look at the links at PNP Device Driver. You can use INF2CAT to create a .CAT file and you will have to sign this with either a existing certificate or create one.
Inf2Cat.exe /driver:"<Path to driver files>" /os:XP_X86 /verbose

Authenticode will work on Windows XP even it Microsoft not state this.
This should solve the issue with the hardware wizard.
